Since 2014, we have been offering cartons that are 100% based on renewable materials. We use ISCC-certified, wood-based PE made from tall oil, a residue from pulp and paper production. The tall oil comes from Nordic forests.
* When you buy a Pure-Pak® carton with green cap and layer, we make sure that an equivalent amount of plastic is produced from renewable and sustainable raw materials.
We have reached zero net emissions, first reducing our own emissions and second compensating for the remaining value chain emissions by supporting verified emission reduction projects.
First Elopak carbon neutral cartons launched
The primary raw material for any beverage carton is timber, a renewable resource that comes from responsibly managed forests and other controlled sources. Elopak’s cartons consist on average of 75% paperboard.
Elopak is working hard to substitute the non-renewable materials, such as polyethylene and aluminum, with more sustainable sources.
Our cartons are fully recyclable. We support local collection and recycling facilities to become more widely available and easily accessible.
Beverage cartons safely preserve product contents; maintain nutritional value and their functional gable-top design and easy pouring, reduces food waste.
Various independent studies, including full life cycle assessments, show that cartons have a lower CO2 footprint and consume less water than alternatives.
The rectangular shape of the carton is space-efficient during transport and storage and is transported prior to filling as a flat pack, further reducing transport costs and environmental impact.
